HOPEsudbury sponsors "A Storied Tour of Homes & Barns," a self-guided tour of six unique antique homes and barns in Sudbury, celebrating the town's historic past and the community's goodwill. All proceeds benefit the work of HOPEsudbury.
HOPEsudbury donates funds to The Sudbury Food Pantry, the Greater Worcester Habitat for Humanity's Sudbury Project, the Peter M.Goodrich Memorial Foundation, The Women's Lunch Place in Boston, and KIVA, a nonprofit that organizes international micro-loans.
April 2008Book Drive
HOPEsudbury collects more than 300 books for Gcina Molphe and her "Mother of Books" traveling road show. Ms. Molphe is an award-winning South African author and playwright whose mission is to promote understanding and literacy through storytelling and children's books. The books collected through HOPEsudbury will be shipped to South Africa and distributed among village schools to help build their libraries.

HOPEsudbury supports local residents with emergency financial need, distributing close to $30,000 in 2007 through the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund. Additional funds were used to continue the Moving On Basket project for residents of Sandra’s Lodge in Waltham, MA. Each family leaving the transitional shelter for a new home receives a gift basket of household items and a Wal-Mart gift card.
November 2007HOPEsudbury Telethon
The 2007 Telethon was a great success, raising funds to support the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund, A Suitable Image in Framingham, MA and other HOPEsudbury causes.
August-September 2007
In partnership with First Parish of Sudbury, HOPEsudbury sponsors its fifth backpack drive for the children at Sandra's Lodge, collecting the most backpacks in the event's history. Special thanks to Cafe Decadence in Sudbury for their outstanding collection efforts.
June 2007
HOPEsudbury donates funds to Women for Women International, which supports women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance; The Fisher House, which provides free or low-cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers, and The Children’s Room, based in Arlington, MA, which provides caring support to children and teenagers after the death of a loved one.
May 2007
HOPEsudbury sponsors a Toy Drive to benefit Birthday Wishes, based in Newton, MA, which hosts birthday parties for children in local homeless shelters, and Project Smile, which provides police and fire department emergency responders with toys to help comfort traumatized children. Generous community members donated coloring books and crayons, stuffed animals, children's books, goody bag items and birthday-themed paper goods.

HOPEsudbury welcomes new board members: Paige Gilbert-Goldfarb, Karen LaCamera, Ana Schwartz and Tracy Stewart and says farewell and thanks to departing member Beth Rust.

HOPEsudbury supports an Algerian refuge family living in Sudbury through the Refugee Immigrants Ministry.
HOPEsudbury continues its Moving On Basket project for residents of Sandra’s Lodge, a Waltham, MA homeless shelter, providing a basket of household items and a Target gift card to families leaving the shelter for a new home.
HOPEsudbury receives a generous grant from the Sudbury United Methodist Church’s Permanent Endowment Fund to support the Community Assistance Fund.

HOPEsudbury supports local residents with emergency financial need, distributing close to $25,000 in 2006 through the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund.
Year-end donations were made to the Sudbury Food Pantry and the victims of the Danvers, MA chemical plant explosion.
October 2006HOPEsudbury Telethon
The show must go on and so it did. Despite stormy weather and a two-hour power failure, the 2006 Telethon was a huge success, raising funds to support the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund, the Metrowest Free Medical Program, Sudbury, MA and other HOPEsudbury causes.

HOPEsudbury donates funds to Central Asia Institute to support women’s education in Afghanistan; to Friends of the Children, Boston branch, which provides mentoring services to at risk children, and to Refugee Immigrants Ministry, an organization that places political refugees seeking asylum in the Boston Metro area.

HOPEsudbury donates funds to Action Against Hunger for Earthquake Relief in Pakistan; to Homes for Our Troops, the Taunton, MA-based group which builds and remodels homes for severely wounded veterans, and REACH, a domestic violence support agency in Waltham, MA.

HOPEsudbury responds to 35 requests from local individuals or families with emergency financial need, distributing just over $16,000 in 2005.
October 2005HOPEsudbury Telethon
Another successful Telethon raised funds to support the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund, the Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center in Hopkinton, MA and other HOPEsudbury causes.
September 2005 HOPEsudbury organized a community drive to collects socks and underwear for the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and made a contribution to the American Red Cross for disaster relief associated with Hurricane Katrina.

All proceeds benefit the work of HOPEsudbury and the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, a temporary housing facility being built in Boston for cancer patients and their families who travel far for treatment.

HOPEsudbury donates funds in support of the Tsunami victims in South Asia through two sources: Action Against Hunger and the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Tsunami Relief Fund.

HOPEsudbury distributes additional humanitarian aid to the American Red Cross for Florida hurricane relief; to the Central Asia Institute, which promotes women's education in Afghanistan and Pakistan, to Homes for our Troops, a new nonprofit that builds homes for disabled veterans, and to the new Metrowest Free Medical Program, based in Sudbury.

Hundreds of volunteers and generous donors helped make the 2004 Telethon our most successful yet. Monies raised will support the HOPEsdubury Community Assistance Fund, the Metrowest Harvest Meals on Wheels Program and other HOPEsudbury causes.

Once again, in partnership with First Parish of Sudbury, HOPEsudbury collected backpacks and school supplies for children at Sandra's Lodge, the transitional shelter in Waltham, MA.
June 2004The Moving On Basket Project
Using funds raised during the 2003 Telethon, HOPEsudbury created 40 gift baskets for residents of Sandra’s Lodge, a homeless shelter in Waltham, MA. When a resident and her family leave the shelter for their own apartment, they take with them a basket filled with household items for their kitchen, bedroom or bath and a $100 Target gift card. A wonderful start to a new life.
In addition, HOPEsudbury helped to refurbish the computer lab at Sandra's Lodge, providing five fully functional computers, software, Internet access, printers and supplies. Residents are using the computers to do homework, research and to look for employment and housing.

Local businessmen Michael Precourt and Paul Cove held their annual charity golf tournament and donated the proceeds to HOPEsudbury. (Our thanks to Mike and Paul!)
May 15, 2004Honoring Those Who Serve
HOPEsudbury hosted a Community Day at Town Hall. Community members created crafts and cards, and collected toiletries, books, videos and other items to support service personnel stationed in Iraq and to recognize veterans at the Bedford Veterans Home.

In partnership with First Parish of Sudbury, HOPEsudbury collected more than 100 backpacks and ancillary school supplies for children at Sandra’s Lodge.
May 2003Comfort Basket Project
HOPEsudbury sponsored a drive to show support for the families of reservists associated with Fort Devens who have family stationed overseas. Community members donated a host of itemsbooks, toys, plantswhich were assembled in decorated gift baskets and delivered to 30 local families.
November 2002HOPEsudbury Telethon
The Telethon raised $26,000 for the HOPEsudbury Community Assistance Fund, New York’s Engine 9-Ladder 6 and other HOPEsudbury causes.
April 2002Comfort Basket Project
HOPEsudbury sponsored a community drive to let the families of reservists from Hanscom Air Force Base with loved ones overseas know others were thinking of them. The colorful baskets were filled with stamps, phone cards, candles, plants, disposable cameras and gift certificates.
February 2002Flags of HOPE Community Day
At our inaugural event, young and old met at Town Hall to create individual Flags of HOPE, which were hung in schools, municipal buildings and businesses around town. The colorful cloth squares were decorated with the hopes and wishes of Sudbury citizens. The belief, which comes from ancient Tibetan and Nepalese tradition, holds that when the wind blows, our hopes and wishes will be carried around the world. In addition, participants e-mailed servicemen and women abroad, wrote notes of appreciation to New York firefighters and collected coats and blankets for Afghan refuges.
